Summary

Students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign enjoy a University that celebrates diversity, serves their health and wellness needs, and allows them to reach their highest potentials, both academically and personally. 450,000 Illini graduates have been shaped by their time at our University and many say they are who they are because of it. Student Affairs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is making sure this tradition continues, and, with your help, we will meet the needs of a changing student body. Through exceptional programming, relevant services, progressive facilities, and vibrant living/learning environments, we create an Illinois experience that focuses on developing life skills and propelling bright minds. We are determined to build on the successful programs we already have and to make them even stronger and more effective across the entire student body. As the student experience changes, we can be the international leader for student affairs. We seek to bring more students and cultures together, create more spaces for student activity, better serve communities, and meet all the rapidly changing needs of today’s and tomorrow’s Illinois students. With Illinois, we can redefine the way Student Affairs can transform lives and develop the leaders of the future.

Priorities

Putting Students First

Student Affairs will establish endowments that will provide perpetual and sustainable funding for student-centered programs and services across all of student affairs. These include $2M to support the Bruce Nesbitt African American Cultural Center; $1M to support a second week of The Institute by Leadershape; $500,000 to support the International Education Program; and $250,000 to support health, safety, wellness, risk management and leadership programing for the Office of Greek Affairs. Additional needs include funding for suicide prevention education, cross-cultural programming through the Office of Diversity and Social Justice, and many more!

Investing in Infrastructure

We will seek private funding for infrastructure projects such as $1.2M for the new building for the Bruce Nesbitt African American Cultural Center projected to open in 2019. Additionally private funding opportunities are available for the renovation of the Innovation Living-Learning Community in Illinois Street Residence Hall set to open in 2020, and the proposed Illini Union Renovation Project anticipated to begin in 2022.

Endowing and Increasing Scholarships

Illinois students are smart, strong, and accomplished and go on to make us proud long after they graduate. They are leaders when they arrive at Illinois, and, upon graduation, they continue to be leaders in their chosen professions and communities. Student Affairs’ scholarship funds help to support our students in need, recognize their accomplishments, and empower them to achieve their goals.

Impacting Sustainable Leadership

Our staff members are recognized nationally as thought leaders and fearless intellectual pioneers who make creating a world-class educational experience a priority at Illinois. Establishing named directorships through endowments will provide much needed sustainability and positively impact retention and recruitment of Student Affairs leadership.
